The service, which will start on 1st May 1999, will be branded "Connect". Concorde Express will take on 120 staff from the existing contractor and will acquire 7 new coaches and 35 specially designed vans which will all be fitted with the latest vehicle tracking technology.
Commenting on the contract win, David Mackay, Chief Executive of John Menzies,said :

In July we formed London Cargo Centre, a joint venture with Lufthansa Airport & Ground Services ("LAGS"), to operate Lufthansa's cargo terminal at Heathrow. We also recently expanded our operations to include passenger handling through our joint acquisition with LAGS of Sigma Aviation, who are based at Manchester Airport"

CONCORDE EXPRESS WINS PASSENGER AND BAGGAGE TRANSFER CONTRACT AT HEATHROW
John Menzies plc today announced that Concorde Express, a member of its Menzies Transport Services ("MTS") division, has been awarded a contract to provide a passenger and baggage transfer service at Heathrow Airport for the next five years. The contract, worth £25 million, is for the transfer of some 3 million passengers and 6.5 million bags annually between the airport's four terminals.The service, which will start on 1st May 1999, will be branded "Connect".
