MANAGEMENT CHANGES AT ELC

John Menzies is making management changes at its Early Learning Centre divison ("ELC"). Mr R I Duncan, Chief Executive, and Mr A E Crankshaw, Managing Director, are leaving the business. Mr D J Jenkinson, a director of John Menzies and the Chairman of ELC, will manage the business until a successor is appointed. ELC has developed into a national chain and is one of the most succesful brands on the High Street. Trading at ELC continues to be impaced by competition and changes to shopping habits. After a thorough review, including the examination of approaches from companies interested in buying the business, John Menzies has concluded that the best way to recognise the proper value of this asset for the shareholders is to continue the business. Further information on trading at ELC and in the rest of the John Menzies Group will be included in its Preliminary Results announcement on 22nd July 1997.
