Menzies Transport Services acquires the air cargo terminal of Aer Lingus at Heathrow for £6m in cash.
MARCH
John Menzies plc is selling its 36% interest in Samas Universal Office Supplies BV to Samas-Groep NV of the Netherlands for NLG 158m (£44m).
MAY
Menzies Transport Services acquire a further 30% in London Cargo Centre from GlobeGround. Under the agreement MTS hold an 80% stake in the combined cargo operation to be named Menzies World Cargo.
JULY
John Menzies plc enters into a conditional agreement to acquire the global airport ground handling operations of Ogden Aviation Services for US$117.8m (£79m).
AUGUST
John Menzies plc sells THE, its book video and music wholesaling business to members of the management of the division of a cash consideration of £2.5m, free of cash and debt.
NOVEMBER
John Menzies plc completes the acquisition of Ogden Ground Services for US$105.0m (£73.8m) in cash.
DECEMBER
John Menzies plc, the exclusive UK distributor for Nintendo for the last 6 years through it's the Games division, announce the Group and Nintendo have decided not to renew THE Games' current 2 year contract which expires at the end of the month.

Menzies Aviation Group acquires Parc Aviation Handling Limited in Dublin.
John Menzies plc reached conditional agreement for the purchase of the Sheffield and Guildford news wholesaling operations of Turners News Ltd.
NOVEMBER
Execair, the executive aircraft handling business of Menzies Aviation Group, has opened its tenth European station at Prague's Ruzyne Airport.

FEBRUARY
Menzies Aviation Group acquires Fr8 to become the leading independent cargo handler in the Netherlands.
APRIL
John Menzies plc's aviation division Menzies Aviation Group has acquired The Wyng Group, a UK based ground handling and air cargo trucking organisation with net assets of some £50,000 and an annual turnover of £6.3m.
MAY
William Thomson is appointed Chairman of John Menzies plc following the retirement of Gavin Reed at the Annual General Meeting.
OCTOBER
Paul Dollman is appointed as Financial Director of John Menzies plc with effect from 1st October 2002.
